What the state counts mean

Physical counts are selected records of casino and gaming locations, including tribal gaming operations and bingo halls. They are not counts of confirmed open resorts. Online counts represent brands within a state, so a company may appear more than once nationally.

We separate regulator directories, dated license records and operator statements. Those sources support different facts. A state with no records is an editorial coverage gap, not a statement that casinos are unavailable or prohibited.
